(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Snow didn't slow tolls on Oklahoma turnpikes in January. They were still up more than 440-thousand dollars over last year. Officials credited a 12 per cent jump with the number of motorists using the John Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City and the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa.
Eleven-thousand drivers are using the new two-mile extension of the Kilpatrick Turnpike every day. lt costs drivers 90 cents to travel all eleven miles of the Kilpatrick Turnpike to Interstate 35. When it's completed, it will link the turnpike with Interstate 40. The late January snowstorms cost more than 600-thousand dollars in extra maintenance to sand and plow the turnpikes.
