(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Tenth U-S Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against the latest appeal by death row inmate Dorsie Leslie Jones. Jones is seeking to avoid execution for his conviction for shooting Stanley Buck Senior to death in a Lawton bar in 1979. He also wounded two people in the shooting. Jones has been on Oklahoma's death row the longest of any inmates there.

Jones' attorney argued that the death penalty would be cruel and unusual punishment after 20 years for it to occur. Assistant Attorney General Sandra Howard says Jones' only remaining chance to avoid execution is to ask the U-S Supreme Court to consider the case. Jones claims he was temporarily insane because of the interaction of the alcoholic beverage he drank and a prescription drug he took.
