(Huntsville-AP) -- The attorney for former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison says he expects a municipal judge to approve a plea agreement in Morrison's case. The agreement calls for Morrison to plead guilty to misdemeanor marijuana and public intoxication charges.

Rusty Hudson of Fayetteville, Morrison'sattorney, said he mailed a letter Friday to Municipal Judge W-Q Hall at Huntsville. A copy of the letter, setting out the agreement, also went to Prosecutor Bill Allred. Hudson said he discussed the plea with Morrison, who is serving a two-year sentence at a state prison in Texarkana. Hudson said he included a $600 check as payment in full of Morrison's fines and court costs as in the plea agreement.

Hudson said the judge could reject the agreement, but he doesn't expect that, since the judge has already been told of the general terms. The letter says Morrison agreed to a $500 fine on the possession of marijuana charge and a $100 fine on the public intoxication charge. It also said Morrison agreed to a 30-day sentence to run concurrent with his sentence at Texarkana.

The charges stem from his Thanksgiving Day arrest near Huntsville after he ran from a traffic accident. He was a passenger in a car driven by Bart Bumpass. Bumpass was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, possession of firearms and driving while intoxicated.
