OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Jockey Cliff Berry guided two more horses to victory Sunday, a day after he reached a career milestone of 1,500 wins Sunday. Berry scored twice to push his Thoroughbred Mini-Meet total to 12. He has already established a seven-win lead over Kelly Bridges in the standings after just six days of racing.
In the sixth race, Berry helped get Erna Mabel home in front for her fourth consecutive win at Remington. She cover the seven furlongs in 1:26.80, bringing $6 to win, $4.80 to place and $3.40 to show. Awesome Question brought $14.80 to place and $4.60 to show, while Lullabies brought $9 to show.
The Sunday feature was a $13,500 allowance event for Oklahoma-breds going 51/2 furlongs. As the field of nine moved into the stretch, Berry pushed Medium Rare to the front with a quick move. The 4-year-old chestnut son of Rare Brick increased his lead all the way to the finish to score by 91/4 lengths over Baron Von Trom, bringing $6.80 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.40 to show.
Baron VonTrom brought $3.00 to place and $2.40 to show, while Luck Arrives arrived third to pay $2.60 to show. A holiday week of racing begins Friday at Remington Park. Ther ewill be a special card on President's Day Monday, Feb. 21. The post time each day of the Mini-Meet is 12:45 p.m.
