(Kansas City-AP) -- The body of Derrick Thomas will lie in state next week on the very football field he dominated for so many years. The Kansas City Chiefs have now announced details of public services for Number 58, who died this week in a Florida hospital.

Events begin at 9 a-m Monday when Arrowhead Stadium opens to the public. Thomas's body will be on view beneath a tent in the east end zone, with a military fly over planned for noon. The public viewing will continue until 6 p-m, when the body is removed for a private viewing.

On Tuesday, the body will be taken to Kemper Arena for a public memorial service at 11 a-m. Doors open at 9:30 a-m. Fellow Kansas City Chiefs and N-F-L players from around the country are expected to attend. Owners of some of the private parking lots around Kemper say they'll accept donations for Thomas's Third and Long Foundation. Finally, the body will be transported to the linebacker's hometown of Miami for burial on Wednesday.
