(New York-AP) -- Mattel has landed a much sought-after deal in the toymaking world.

The world's biggest toymaker has been awarded the rights to make toys based on Harry Potter, the best-selling children's book series that's being made into a feature film.

Warner Brothers today announced the licensing agreement with Mattel. Terms weren't revealed.

There's been speculation for months over who would get the rights to manufacture toys based on the Harry Potter books.

The series by British writer J.K. Rowling describe the education of young Harry at a school for wizards.
