(Kellyville-AP) -- Defeat of a routine school millage levy in Kellyville has sent school officials scrambling to arrange a new election. Kellyville officials say the defeat of the ten-mill local support levy could force the schools to close.
Kellyville's school board president John Tuttle says the schools can't operate without the local support levy. Kellyville's 1,300 students attend classes on one campus. Tuttle says opposition to a $2.8 million elementary school bond issue may have contributed to the defeat of the routine levy. Three millage levies were defeated for Swank school in Choctaw County. The school goes through eighth grade.
