(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Keating has turned down a reprieve requested for a condemned Oklahoma inmate. Keating had received the request for Michael Donald Roberts, who's scheduled to die early tomorrow in McAlester. He was convicted of the 1988 murder of 80-year-old Lula Mae Brooks of Oklahoma City.

The request seeks a 60-day death penalty reprieve so a study can examine whether it is being applied fairly. The reprieve would benefit Roberts and two other death row inmates scheduled for execution next month. Kirby says Keating is sensitive to the request but doesn't favor it.
