(Norman-AP) -- The National Weather Service warns of very high fire danger today across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The combinations of gusty south to southwest winds will combine with temperatures in the 70s.

Winds are forecast to average 10 to 20 miles-per-hour. Relative humidities are from 30 to 35 percent. Authorities say the lack of rain so far in February has allowed vegatation to become very dry and susceptible to rapid burning. They warn that the use of outdoor fires can be hazardous and extreme caution should be used to prevent the start of wildfires. Fires that get started may spread quickly and get out of control.
