(New York-AP) -- A dozen N-B-A players tested positive for marijuana during training camp last fall, according to the New York Times. The paper says fewer than three per cent of the 430 players on opening night rosters tested positive and face five-game suspensions if they test positive two more times. The 12 players were not identified.
The league drug agreement says a first offense results in mandatory aftercare. A second positive test can result in a $15,000 fine. Marijuana, steroids, amphetamines and L-S-D were added to the drug agreement during the latest round of bargaining. Players had been tested only for cocaine and heroin previously.
