(Muskogee-AP) -- Former Assistant District Attorney Stuart Ericson has dropped out of the Second Congressional District race. Instead he says he'll run for the state House post being vacated by Democratic Representative Bill Settle.

Ericson says the Second Congressional District race is too crowded. It's up for grabs after incumbent Representative Tom Coburn said he would not run again. Coburn has recruited Andy Ewing of Muskogee to run for the G-O-P nomination, which Ericson says was a big factor pushing him out of the race.
