(Dallas-AP) -- The letter grade D is being eliminated in one school district. And it's going to help at least one student get a football scholarship. Without the D on his transcript, Cody Spencer is eligible for a football scholarship at an N-C-double-A Division One school. His chief suitors as a running back and/or defensive lineman are Texas Christian, Texas Tech, North Texas and Midwestern. The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District voted Monday to give a C to all students who scored between 70 and 79 in a course. Before, it took 75 to 79 to get a C, with a grade of 70 to 74 getting a D. Spencer's father asked school officials to bring the grading system in conformity with other school districts. Spencer is listed by some scouting services as among Texas' top 100 football recruits. A school official insisted that the school is not lowering its academic standards.
