CUSHING, Okla. (AP) -- A guard at the private prison in Cushing has been fired after he was accused of trying to smuggle marijuana to inmates in Cimarron Correctional Facility. Officer David Andre Denizot, 21, faces charges of possession of marijuana in a penal institution, conspiracy to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond has been set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
Court records show officials found marijuana hidden in Denizot's uniform during a random employee search last month. Four ounces of marijuana was found. Two inmates and the brother of one of the inmates face charges of conspiracy to smuggle marijuana into a penal institution. An arrest warrant has also been filed for Charles Hall, the brother, and his bond has been set at $30,000.
The inmates are identified as Demarco Hall and Calvin Lambert. Authorities allege Demarco Hall, 24, arranged for his brother, Charles, to meet with Denizot in Tulsa to receive a half pound of marijuana. Denizot told authorities he met Charles Hall on Jan. 8 and Jan. 10 and smuggled an ounce into the prison to Demarco Hall and Lambert.
Court records show Lambert told investigators that it was his job to take the marijuana from Denizot to Demarco Hall. He said he was in the rotunda area of the prison waiting for Denizot to hand off the marijuana when the marijuana was found.
