(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Newly retired F-B-I agent Dan Vogel requested that he be allowed to retire quietly -- without gifts and without a party. The 52-year-old Vogel was known as the voice and the face of the local F-B-I.

As an F-B-I spokesman, he dealt with the bombing of the Alfred P- Murrah Federal Building. He says even as he dealt with the horror of the bombing, it highlighted the reason he made Oklahoma his home. People pulled together.

He says he plans to volunteer two days a week as a mentor at two of Oklahoma City's economically disadvantaged schools. And Vogel's been asked to serve on a task force addressing school violence. Vogel says he'd like the public to know the F-B-I better. He says there's a myth that agents are superhuman robots and they're not. And he says the F-B-I can be positive.
