(Pawnee-AP) -- The rock work had stood the test of time. But vandals have done damage that may be hard to repair at the historic bath house on Pawnee Lake in Pawnee. Twice since November, vandals have knocked down rock bannisters built by workers in the Works Progress Administration.

The latest destruction was discovered January Fourth. District conservationist Loren Zweiacker with the National Resources Conservation Service says they believe young adults are responsible for the attacks. He says ten to 12 feet of the bannister was knocked down this time. About 20 feet of the rock railing was knocked off November first.

Zweiacker said rock that was salvageable was stored after the November damage. He says it may be hard to get enough rock to salvage this time.
