(Phoenix-AP) -- A man sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his wife 44 times and holding her head underwater still insists he was sleepwalking during the killing.
Scott Falater could have been sentenced to death, but a long list of witnesses -- including his teen children -- called him a devoted husband and father.
The presiding judge said Falater was a good man every day but the one he killed his wife.
In a jailhouse interview, Falater says he still doesn't recall killing his wife, Yarmila, and that if he had died that night, he would have died a happy man.
A neighbor testified, however, that he saw Falater put on gloves, and motioned to his dog to lie down, before dragging his wife to a pool.
