(Huntsville-AP) -- Former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison is to go to trial February Tenth on charges tied to his Thanksgiving Day arrest. Attorney Rusty Hudson entered innocent pleas on Morrison's behalf this week to misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana.
Morrison was arrested following an accident involving a car registered to his wife but driven by a Fayetteville man. At the time of the crash in Madison County, Morrison was free while awaiting a Washington County trial on previous drug charges. He currently is in the Washington County Jail.
Morrison won the World Boxing Organization heavyweight championship in 1993 by defeating George Foreman. He lost the title later that year, and his career was halted in 1996 when he tested H-I-V positive.
