Tulsa's first baby of the new year arrived just 9 minutes after the clock hit midnight and she's a first for her proud parents. Skylar Poulsen will always be known as the New Year's baby and she wasn't even supposed to here for six more days.

Skylar Elizabeth surprised her parents and came early. The nine pound one ounce newborn is getting much attention for her timely arrival.

"It's always been a joke at my work that I'd have a millennium baby because my due date is actually January 7, sure enough she came out just 9 minutes afterwards," says Mom Christel Poulsen.

Now it's no joke and she's even being called the state's first baby of the century.

The folks at Saint John Medical Center are glad she arrived in their maternity ward. After her early arrival was inevitable, her mom admits she didn't rush her labor she was wanting a 2000 baby.

"It's just a neat birthday to have for the rest of your life," says Poulsen.

Dad's already getting a taste of what the next 18 years are going to like watching out for his little girl.

Happy Birthday Skylar.
