(Tallahassee, Florida-AP) -- Florida is putting the brakes on its controversial license plate with the words "Choose Life" stamped on it.

A lawsuit alleging that the plate makes a political statement against abortion caused the state motor vehicle department to halt
production. State officials say the plate is on hold until the lawsuit is resolved.

Supporters of the specialty plate say it carries a pro-adoption message and that proceeds would benefit organizations for pregnant
women who plan to put their babies up for adoption.
