An inmate who walked away from the Conner Correctional Center got a few miles away before he was captured by correctional officers in a ranch house near Wynona.
Tracy S. Meeks, 25, was arrested Saturday afternoon, said Steve Moles, duty officer at the prison. He said Meeks apparently did not know the people who lived in the house. Authorities believe Meeks walked through the woods from the prison to the house.
Wynona is about 10 miles north of Hominy. Meeks has 15 years remaining on a Garfield County conviction for knowingly concealing stolen property after a former felony conviction. He has been at Conner for about a year, Moles said.
