Tony Heard scored 22 points to help Tulsa overcome a ten-point first-half deficit on the way to an 89-to-87 win over Athletes First in an exhibition game today.
Heard hit seven of his ten field-goal attempts including five 3-pointers. He was one of five Golden Hurricanes who scored in double figures. David Shelton had 20 points, Brandon Kurtz had 18, Greg Harrington had 15 and Marcus Hill added 10.
Athletes First led 44-34 at the half but was outscored by Tulsa 55-43 in the second half. The Golden Hurricane hit only 18.2 percent of their 3-point attempts in the first half but were 60 percent in the last period.
Robert White scored a game-high 24 points for Athletes First and hit six of his eleven 3-point shots. Also scoring in double figures for Athletes First were Chad Wilkerson with 19 and Shawn Pughsley with 16.
