A man in custody on a drug charge has been arrested in connection with the beating death of Marty McCay, 40, of Apache.
Harley Duane McKelvy, 47, had been arrested by the Cache Police Department and the Comanche County Sheriff's Department on an unrelated drug charge.
A fisherman's discovery of a bundle of clothing and two guns floating on Lake Tom Steed on Nov. 5 led a Caddo County sheriff's deputy to McCay's home on Monday, where McCay was found dead.
One of the guns had been traced to McCay.
"The deputy sheriff went to his home to see if the gun still belonged to him or if it had been stolen," said Lorna Palmer, a spokeswoman with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. "That's when he discovered the body outside the home."
Kym Koch, a spokeswoman for the OSBI, said Saturday that fingerprints on McCay's car eventually led them to McKelvy. The fingerprints belonged to McKelvy's brother, Ms. Koch said.
An agent went to McKelvy's home Friday to serve a search warrant, but McKelvy wasn't home. The agent put out a notice to other law enforcement agencies and Comanche County said McKelvy was in the jail there.
