Is Halloween getting scarier?
One out of three people surveyed in a new Gallup poll say theybelieve in ghosts. That's three times the number who said that 20 years ago.
One of five say they believe in witches -- twice the rate of the late 1970s.
Almost nine out of ten people in the new poll say they have no objections to Halloween on religious grounds.
Two out of three parents told pollsters their children will go out trick-or-treating -- slightly more than in 1978.
More than four out of five parents say their kids will wear costumes.
The poll indicates that the most popular costumes will be Batman, Star Wars characters, witches and Pokemon and Disney characters.
The telephone poll of one-thousand adults had an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points.
