(Dallas-AP) -- A Congressional panel has endorsed an agreement
defining the Oklahoma-Texas border.

The battle over the border has raged for almost 200 years.

The U-S House subcommittee on commercial and administrative law
yesterday gave its consent to the Red River Boundary Compact.

The measure defines the boundary as the vegetation line of the
Red River's south bank.

The Texas and Oklahoma legislatures and both governors have
approved the deal.

The Dallas Morning News reports Congress is expected to approve
the agreement -- but there's opposition from Indian tribes.

Kiowa, Apache and Comanche tribes own thousands of acres along
the Red River.

Tribal leaders are worried about potential disputes if their
land becomes part of a different state jurisdiction.
