(Columbus, Ohio-AP) -- Happy Birthday to Elsie the Cow. The spokes-cow for Borden is 60 years old today. She got her start in 1939 at the World's Fair in New York.

Borden had been using Elsie and several other cartoon characters to promote its products for several years, but decided back then it needed a real Elsie.
In the years since, a series of live cows have played the role. Elsie has appeared before millions of fans, been used to
promote Borden products and even played in a movie. This year, Advertising Age magazine ranked Elsie tenth in its list of advertising icons of the century.
