A Texas police officer got himself into a sticky situation while trying to rescue a cow.

He needed the help of a t-v news helicopter to free himself from waist-deep mud near Lake Arlington.

It all began overnight when a truck hauling cattle overturned southeast of Fort Worth.

Hours later, one of the cows turned up in a muddy creek bed.

The officer became embedded soon after arriving on the scene.

The news helicopter covering the story hovered over the officer, who managed to hook his arm over one of the chopper's legs -- and he was lifted out.

A truck was used to rescue the cow.
