General Electric is recalling more than three
(m) million dishwashers.

The company says the machines may catch fire because of a faulty switch.

The recall includes some G-E and Hotpoint brand dishwashers.

There have been at least 50 incidents reported in which the switch melted and ignited fires.

Seven of the fires spread beyond the dishwashers and three caused damage to homes.

No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the dishwashers and should keep the machine's door unlatched to keep electricity from reaching the
faulty switch.

G-E is offering a rebate toward the purchase of a new dishwasher
