Man involved in cheerleader murder indicted again

Curtis Gambill, one of the three men already serving prison time for the 1996 slaying of a 16-year-old Oklahoma girl, has been indicted on further charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

Prosecutor Tim Cole said he wants to be certain Gambill, already serving a life prison term for the murder of Heather Rich, is never
released from prison.

Cole seeks a consecutive term of five to 99 years that would be added to Gambill's first-degree felony sentence.

Gambill is one of three Oklahoma youths convicted in the slaying of Miss Rich, who was driven across the state line and shot nine
times in Texas.

According to his plea agreement, Gambill was supposed to testify against co-defendant Joshua Bagwell. But Cole says Gambill violated the agreement by failing to testify consistently with his previous statements, so he decided to seek the conspiracy charge that
previously had been dropped.

The latest indictment of Gambill was returned Monday.

A judge recently upheld Bagwell's conviction in the case, and Cole expects the same action in the appeal of Randy Wood, the third man convicted in the Rich murder
