(Mexico City-AP) -- Authorities in Mexico say at least 50 people were killed and dozens injured in a series of explosions and fire.
The blasts and the blaze destroyed a section of downtown Celaya in central Mexico.
Initial reports say a fireworks storehouse exploded, causing a fire that blew up cooking gas tanks at nearby restaurants.
Celaya is an industrial city about 120 miles northwest of Mexico City. Local factories -- some owned by U-S companies -- produce clothing, metal stampings and stove parts.
The Mexican Army has been called in to help seal off the disaster site and evacuate local residents. Firemen have brought the blaze under control.
