A federal audit reportedly shows
consumers never find out about nearly 90-percent of all Safe
Drinking Water Act violations.
U-S-A Today says it has obtained an E-P-A audit that shows
88-percent of the violations are not reported in a national
database.
The story says the violations range from missed water quality
tests to contamination problems. But, most involve missed deadlines
and other issues that may not involve safety.
The database is supposed to be the main source of information on
170-thousand public water systems.
Consumers can check its records on a web site.
