Jagger-Hall `Marriage' Annulled

LONDON (AP) -- Mick Jagger's not-quite-marriage to Jerry Hall is
null and void both in England and in Indonesia, where the rock star
and the model had a 1990 wedding ceremony, a judge ruled today.

Hall and Jagger -- who were together more than 20 years and have
four children -- were not in court.

Hall, 43, filed for divorce in January after Brazilian model
Luciana Morad said she was pregnant with Jagger's child. Jagger,
the 55-year-old frontman for the Rolling Stones, acknowledged last
month that the boy, now more than 3 months old, is his.

Last month, the two agreed that they were never validly married.
Their lawyers said they had "amicably and formally agreed to
separate after more than two decades as a couple and to obtain an
annulment."

Justice Sir Michael Connell granted the annulment decree today
in the High Court Family Division after hearing a sworn statement
Hall sent in.

Connell said the couple's Indonesian wedding was never
registered. Registration might not have been essential if the local
community acknowledged the marriage, he said. But, in that case,
both the bride and groom would have had to be Balinese Hindus.

"In these circumstances, I am satisfied this marriage ceremony
did not, according to local law, bring about a legal marriage,"
the judge said.

After the hearing, the couple's lawyers issued a statement
saying Connell also had ratified the confidential financial
agreement Jagger and Hall reached last month. The statement said
both Hall and Jagger "were greatly relieved that the formal legal
process was now at an end."

Details of the financial settlement will remain confidential.
But there has been speculation that Hall sought a $48 million chunk
of Jagger's $240 million fortune.

Hall is in Dallas, where one of her sisters is undergoing
chemotherapy. Jagger's whereabouts were not disclosed.
