A follow-up on an effort to collect hats for children with cancer. The News on 6 told you earlier this week about a Shawnee teacher who was trying to collect 15,000 "Happie" hats for kids with cancer, in the name of one of his students who's battling cancer again.
Jayson Floyd says the hats bring back dignity to the kids who are losing their hair.The story has generated a lot of phone calls from viewers wanting to help out, including the folks at Tulsa Teacher's Credit Union.
They decided to set up collection boxes at all seven of their locations and the donations are already pooring in.Janet Harlan, marketing coordinator at TTCU: "200 hats at one of our branches already, so we've gotten a good reception already.â€
Jayson Floyd hopes to collect all 15,000 hats by March 31st.
