The Better Business Bureau says a scam could cheat you out of thousands of dollars. Andrew Kuppinger put his used Honda up for sale on an Internet site.

Someone said they wanted to buy it. They sent what looked like a real cashier's check, made out for thousands of dollars more than the asking price. Then the supposed buyer asked Andrew to wire the difference to the shipper.

Andrew caught on to the scam, but he fears others won’t. “People are doing this. They look real. The check looks real. They are very professional looking. Those people are just going to send that check thinking everything is up and up."

The Better Business Bureau says when someone sends a check for more than the asking price, which should be a red flag.
