The Tulsa Home and Garden Show begins Expo Square later this week. Tuesday, News on 6 reporter Rick Wells stopped in to watch some local businesses who are building an entire backyard with all the trimmings.

These guys are putting together the ultimate backyard. Half a dozen major elements that could make your backyard the neighborhood showplace. "It's a 45 by 40 booth roughly." That's Chad Lovett of Beyond the Backdoor one of five vendors who are contributing to this exhibit.

There will be an arbor, 17 by 15 feet made out of cedar. It'll provide the shaded sitting area for this backyard masterpiece. It's gonna have a fireplace, a kitchen, a pool, a deck and arbor, landscaping, live oak trees. Chad Lovett: "Yes sir and this here's a little coffee table and love seat for sitting. So it will be a complete outdoor living room when it's finished."

And they have until Thursday about noon to get it done. The guys are putting the framework for the pool together. It'll have a vinyl liner and steps up one side. They still have to put a deck at one end of it. They'll use stones to put a stucco and stone veneer around the pool. There is a truck load of dirt in the corner they'll use to build the planting areas. Later on, a cement truck will pull in 'n pour about 600 square feet of decorative concrete patio and pathways. I'll be quite a showplace.

They say $75,000 to $90,000 worth of backyard improvements before they're done.

When the show is over Sunday evening they'll come in and tear it all up. You can see the finished booth near the southeast corner of the lower level of the Expo Square building, once the Home and Garden Show gets underway this week.
