A Claremore company faces thousands in penalties following a chemical spill last year. That spill sent 18 workers to the hospital.
It happened at the Valmont Coatings-Oklahoma Galvanizing facility in August. US Labor investigators cited Valmont with 1 willful and 8 serious violations. They include failing to provide protective equipment to employees who responded to the spill.
Investigators also say the company knew of a hazardous condition, but made no reasonable effort to correct it.
Fines total $126,000. The company has 15 working days to comply, request a formal conference or contest the citations.
