A preliminary hearing is scheduled next month for a man accused of murder.

A Tulsa County grand jury issued a murder indictment for Terry Badgwell in December. Badgwell is accused of killing Shawn Howard.

Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris refused to file charges against Badgwell saying he acted in self defense. But Howard's family circulated a petition calling for a grand jury to investigate.

That grand jury indicted Badgwell on first degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Normally, grand jury indictments don't mean the case will get a preliminary hearing.

Badgewell goes back to court in March.
