GOLDSBY, Okla. (AP) -- A Goldsby man is in critical condition after being shot by a McClain County Sheriff's deputy.

Joshua Shane Baldwin was shot once in the chest Wednesday night after police responded to a domestic dispute call at his home.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the case.

The names of the two deputies involved are not being released. McClain County Sheriff Don Hewett said both deputies are on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer- involved shootings.

When police arrived at Baldwin's home they saw a man hiding under the home's porch with a rifle and two handguns.

Hewett says police told Baldwin to drop his weapon, but instead he moved for more concealment and raised the rifle at deputies.

Deputies fired one shot at the man that hit him in the upper body.

Officials say Baldwin may have been drinking and knew police were coming.

Baldwin has a criminal history that includes burglary, negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence and assault and battery on a police officer.
