OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State finance officials say the state collected more money than expected during January, but slightly less than was collected in January 2004.
Finance Director Scott Meacham says the state received $489-million last month in revenue from sales and income taxes and taxes on natural gas and cars and trucks.
The amount is $32.5-million than the official estimate and $1.3-million less than January one year ago.
Meacham says it appears the state's economy is growing strongly and that there will be a surplus in the Rainy Day Fund this year.
