McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Clemency hearings are scheduled next week for two condemned killers, including one who's asked for the death penalty.
A hearing for Jimmy Ray Slaughter is set for next Tuesday and a hearing for John David Duty is Thursday.
Duty is to die for strangling his cellmate, Curtis Wise, at the state penitentiary in December 2001. Duty has asked for the death penalty and said he'll kill again if he remains in prison.
Slaughter is to be put to death for the 1991 murders of his former girlfriend, Melody Sue Wuertz, and their 1-year-old daughter, Jessica.
Slaughter says he was in Kansas at the time of the killings. Prosecutors say he killed the two during an argument about child support payments.
