MANNFORD, Okla. (AP) -- The town of Mannford is looking for a new police chief.
Town trustees voted 5-to-0 Thursday to approve a retirement package for Bud Reed, who has been police chief for the past ten years. Reed's last day is February 11th.
Package details weren't available, but Reed said he was looking for severance pay and some benefits. Reed earned $42,800 a year.
For the last month, Reed's employment has been discussed at trustee meetings. Some trustees grew upset with him when the chief criticized them in a local newspaper.
In November, Mannford's city manager ordered police computers confiscated to investigate the presence of inappropriate material.
Citing a hostile work environment, a police officer resigned after a computer he used was discovered with inappropriate content.
