Some Oklahoma athletes are headed to Missouri to compete in the 2005 Special Olympic Heartland Games.
The nine athletes left Thursday morning and begin preliminary competitions Friday. They'll compete in snow-shoeing, speed skating, alpine and cross country skiing.
Coach John Seals says it’s an exciting time for all. "They don't get to do this, our snow-shoers haven't even gotten to practice and now when there's snow, we're not gonna be here."
All the athletes are from Tulsa and surrounding areas. They brought home numerous medals in 2004.
