OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The General Motors plant in Oklahoma City resumed production Tuesday.

GM closed the plant for the first two weeks of the new year and is reducing production by 24% in an effort to balance supply and demand for the sport utility vehicle produced at the plant.

GM also is laying off about 250 hourly workers at the plant.

GM has about 2,600 employees who make the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and the GMC Envoy XUV.
