OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma County commissioners have extended the county's anti-discrimination policy to include gays and lesbians.
The policy says the county appreciates its increasingly diverse work force and the diversity provides a reflection of the community the county serves.
The policy lists the kinds of discrimination that are prohibited, including, for the first time, discrimination based on sexual orientation, medical conditions and political affiliation.
County Commissioner Jim Roth thinks Oklahoma County is the first local government in Oklahoma to adopt such a policy.
