TULSA, Okla. (AP) Paul Millsap scored 19 points as Louisiana Tech won its Western Athletic Conference opener with a 58-to-52 victory over Tulsa.
The Bulldogs won Thursday night despite blowing a 14-point, second-half lead.
The Golden Hurricane pulled to within 46-to-43 with 5:09 to play. Back-to-back steals by freshman guard Brett McDade led to four points and put T-U ahead 47-to-46 with 4:20 remaining.
But Millsap, last season's WAC freshman of the year, scored off a putback, then sank one of two free throws to give Tech a 49-to-47 lead.
After T-U's Anthony Price tied the game, Daevon Haskins sandwiched four free throws between a Millsap bucket to put the Bulldogs ahead 55-to-49. T-U never got closer.
It was the fourth consecutive defeat for Tulsa.
