OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Auditors told members of a task force created to study the Waste Tire Indemnity Fund that it's unknown how much money is in the fund.
The chief of staff for the state auditor and inspector answered questions from the task force about an audit of the fund completed earlier this year. The audit found problems with the way the indemnity fund is handled.
The fund gets money from fees collected on tire sales and vehicle registration. It collects about $4.5-million annually.
Money from the fund is distributed to the Oklahoma Tax Commission and the state Department of Environmental Quality to administer the program.
