A Tulsa Public Schools principal is in the national spotlight.

Cleveland Middle School Principal Kris Serna received the 2004 MetLife Foundation "Ambassadors in Education" award Monday.

Students, teachers and members of the community nominated Ms. Serna because of her innovative approach to helping students work together with members of the community. "I think it's very important for the students to achieve like they need to, we need to all be involved in raising and educating our students."

As part of her award, Ms. Serna's Cleveland Elementary School will also receive a $5,000 grant.
