JAY, Okla. (AP) _ A January 19 preliminary hearing has been set for a Eucha teenager who was allegedly driving drunk during a fatal accident earlier this year.
Brice K. Little, 16, pleaded innocent at his arraignment in Delaware County District Court on Thursday.
Prosecutors charged Little with first-degree manslaughter in the July 8 death of Kindle Kirby.
He also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, eluding or attempting to elude a police officer, driving without a license and failing to maintain security, court records show.
The charges against him stem from a traffic accident in which Little was the driver of a car that was reported to Jay police as possibly having an intoxicated driver, authorities said.
Officer Bryan Linn pursued the car for about three miles before Little lost control of the car, reports show.
Linn arrested Little and his twin brother while emergency workers tried to help Kirby, who died in the accident.
If Little is ordered to stand trial at that hearing, a certification hearing would be held to determine whether he faces trial as a juvenile or an adult.
Little remains jailed on in lieu of $24,000 bail.
