A new study shows Oklahoma teacher pay ranks second worst in the country. The average teacher salary in Oklahoma is just over $35,000, which is 50th on the National Education Association list and based on the last school year.
Worse off are South Dakota teachers with an average of just over $33,200. State education officials say a teacher compensation package last year brought salaries to the regional average.
Lawmakers also approved paying for individual health insurance this year and they're expected to raise salaries again next year.
