Hundreds of Tulsa folks found a way to say thank you to the troops serving abroad. They took time out of their Thanksgiving feasts to say ‘thanks’ by filling boxes bound for the frontlines with a little holiday spirit.
Folks dropped by boxes of items like sunscreen, lip balm and snacks for the troops. Thursday’s donation drive was sponsored by the Blue Star Moms. They're trying to fill 1,000 boxes by December 4th, so the troops will get them by the holidays.
Blue Star mom Barbara Porter: "we have to keep their morale up they're protecting us so its our duty to keep their morale up and let them know we are here and we haven’t forgotten they're over there."
Donor Jules Buisse: "make it a little more convenient for them cause they're sacrificing their lives for our freedom so it’s the least that we can do is to give em some of the things that they need."
Blue Star Moms are giving the public another chance to help out this Saturday they will be out at 4157 South 72nd East Avenue from 9 AM until 1 PM.
