OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A new political committee plans to launch a petition drive to change Oklahoma's workers' compensation system.
The group known as Oklahomans for Workers' Compensation Reform plans to file a petition next spring proposing an administrative workers' comp system, instead of the current quasi-judicial system. Supporters hope for a vote in late 2005 or early 2006.
The group is headed by John Brock, chairman of Oklahomans for Lawsuit Reform, and Bob Funk, head of Express Personnel Services.
Funk says meaningful workers compensation reform is needed is Oklahoma is to be an attractive state in which to do business. Brock says an administrative system would treat injured employees more fairly and quickly while lowering costs.
